I will become a Megane soon enough

My Meganekko waifuI just went to get my eyes examined. Turns out my vision is so shitty I’ll have to wear glasses everyday.

If only anime tropes applied to real life; that being the case, I would either choose to be the Spectacled Sadist or Stoic Spectacles within my group of friends (or even better, within the interwebz).

Interesting to note, most of my favorite anime characters that wear glasses don’t even friggin’ need them. Yuki Nagato loses her glasses midway through the original run of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I disagree with Kyon, she looked good with glasses). Jade Curtiss wears his glasses in order to suppress the awesome spell he casted onto his eyes in Tales of the Abyss. I don’t know why Satoshi Hiwatari/Hikari from D•N•Angel wears glasses, but he obviously doesn’t need them.

Glasses seem to either be a completely normal thing, fetish fuel, or a symbol of badassery in the world of anime, manga, and video games. Why can’t my life be like that?! Makes me feel better about my terrible vision. xD Instead of looking at it in a bad way, let’s look at the positives: I’m getting my glasses from a VERY pretty Asian lady in her early 20s (hurray for me being male estrogen brigade jailbait). btw, she smells nice.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. I’ve worn glasses for so many years. I am sure your eyesight is at least 10x better than mine. If I remove my glasses, I can barely see 3 feet in front of me.

  2. Yeah, that sounds worse than my vision. Though my slight case of lazy eye (apparently >_> Thank goodness it doesn’t look retarded and noticeable) will make my sight worse as I grow older. Probably will be as bad as you if I don’t wear glasses 24/7.

  3. I actually want to wear glasses. I think I would look good in them xD. That is a really dumb reason though.

My left eye has very weak vision. Right now I can still see out of it just fine, but eventually I will need glasses especially with me staring into the computer screen for long hours.

  4. @Kairu90: Same here! My left eye is much blurrier than my other eye.
I blame the computer too. I think I should sleep earlier from now on. xD

  5. Ya, I’m wearing glasses now, had them for about 10 years now. I find that they’re easier than contacts. I would wear contacts almost daily up to a year ago, when I find it’s easier to run out the door with them on rather than putting time into putting contacts onto my eyes ^^;;.

  6. @AS: I wouldn’t mind wearing contacts for special occasions though… helpful to remind people what I looked like without glasses. xD

  7. I voted for the spectacled sadist. Anyways, I actually have a fake pair of glasses for interviews to laboratory positions. I thought they make me look a bit smarter. I think wearing glasses isn’t a bad thing at all, especially if you find a pair that suit you.

  8. @Yi: I don’t exactly find it a bad thing; I think the pair of glasses I picked looked nice. 😛 But knowing that my vision isn’t as good as it used to be kind of makes me sad (supposedly, I probably won’t ever be able to see 20/20 vision ever again).
    Spectacled sadists are awesome. xD
