I swear, almost all of the school-related animations I’ve watched during my childhood always had at least one episode about running a marathon. And in those, someone always gets a leg injury leading to heartwarming help, etc.
Cardcaptor Sakura isn’t exempt from this. This was one of those episodes. 😛
Classic anime expressions. CCS knows how to press the right buttons.
This episode provides some more character establishment for Meilin. Her introductory episode already showed us a bit of these characteristics, but this episode further serves to showcase how devoted, stubborn, and rash she can be. She doesn’t like to fall behind and she’ll do anything to keep up with the other characters, especially when it comes to Syaoran. It’s not made extremely apparent until later on in the series, but she doesn’t want to be considered a burden to him.
He looks miserable
Also, another character establishment in this episode is that Syaoran really does care about Meilin despite how bothered he is by her insisted presence, even though it’s not in a romantic way. It goes without saying that any of the early episodes that showcased Syaoran’s dere side are ones that I particularly enjoy watching.
Could use a little less abuse though.
No bully pls
Sakura says no to Syaoran-bullying!
Reaffirmation #1 The Rashinban is really cool
Cardcaptor Sakura has the best “stock” animations.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. There’s always so much attention-to-detail and quality in these “stock” animations. I really love Madhouse.
I’m tempted to one day compile every “stock” footage in the series that showcases Sakura and Syaoran in different outfits because they’re that nice to look at (I’ll upload it to YouTube or something).
Anyway, the Clow Card of the day is The Loop. Its powers are kind of in the realm of nightmares… at least to me. Here, its magic forces Sakura, Syaoran, and Meilin to run around in a circle without knowing it. Know imagine it running amok in those creepy hotel hallways. No end in sight. *shivers*
Reaffirmation #3 CLAMP’s clothing designs are to die for.
Also, I take back the sclera comment from my last post. That’s just part of the style these “Leave it to Kero-chan” shots are going for, apparently. lol
