Nothing much happens in this episode in terms of development or character establishment (if there wasn’t a Clow Card in these types of episodes, I would call them [good] filler), but it was extremely fun nonetheless. The episode title is “Sakura’s Little Adventure” — which is a great title, I see the pun there — but if I were to rename it, “Honey, I Shrunk Sakura” would be it.
As TsukuyomiMagi99 said in a comment on my last post, Sakura is indeed really cute when she’s scared. Here though, she actually could have died multiple times throughout the episode, which I’m really not okay with.
Becoming a cat’s chew toy, or seeing a praying mantis up-close after being shrunk down to fun size by The Little card, doesn’t sound very fun at all if you were in Sakura’s shoes.
Behold, the most vicious death you’ll ever see in Cardcaptor Sakura. R.I.P. Praying Mantis-kun
I know they’re really friendly at heart, but some of the Clow Cards are somewhat unsettling with their ambiguous innocence. The Little was having way too much fun with Sakura’s misery, for instance.
Also:
さくら怪獣じゃないもん!
So, Touya. After all the jokes about Sakura being a monster that will stomp all over you, it seems like the situation has been reversed.
How do you like it now?
Ahahahahaha. Ha. Ha.
Ha.
That’s not a good thing, is it? ;_;
You know, back when I was just getting into Cardcaptor Sakura during my younger days, I kinda wanted this to be Kero’s true form.
Just look at how majestic he is!
So for all of the other old school CCS fans out there, how many of you guys were also screaming at the screen, “DON’T TOUCH IT!” when you first watched this episode? I remember me doing it in my head, and I swear my heart was skipping a beat before Mini Sakura flew in and I was like, “Thank god they’re not doing that”. My immature little head was making predictions on what was going to happen next. “The Little is going to turn everything little so nothing makes a difference” might have been one of them.
(Side Note: Tomoyo looks really adorable with the twintail hairstyle)
YO YOU BETTER BACK THE FUCK UP BEFORE YOU GET SMACKED THE FUCK UP
Sorry, I’m in the mood for potential CCS reaction images. 😛
Oh my god… well, that’s one way to use a Clow Card.
Revelation #1: Sakura ended world hunger. It’s in her character, she has the powers, and it’s therefore welcome in my headcanon.
Revelation #2: If the events of this episode didn’t create a permanent trauma between Sakura and big houses, her dream of living in a big house will partially come true because her future in-laws are living it big in Chinese mansions (she’ll probably continue to live a quiet life in Tomoeda though, which in all honesty seems like the life I desire as well).
Revelation #3: Touya makes fun of Sakura in this episode, as usual. He says that Sakura isn’t fit to be a princess living in a giantic castle. However, she has an alternate universe counterpart, who is a princess and grew up living in a big castle.
Hm.
My OTP transcends space and time. As convoluted as it got with the clone/time loop bullshit, Tsubasa ‑RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE- really hit a lot of notes right when it came to CLAMP throwbacks (especially when the original CCS Sakura actually appears).
(I’m looking forward to Tsubasa World Chronicle: Nirai Kanai-hen, by the way.)
The best part of this battle costume is definitely her huge ribbon.
